Guillaume Boudrias-Plouffe

Mines de rien pas pour cinq cennes

Residency and exhibition

Residency : from January 15 to 22, 2016
Opening : Friday January 22, at 5pm

Original artworks will be created in response to life stories and anecdotes gathered from elders and members of Sudbury’s francophone community. Among other angles, he will look into the poetic relationship between the mines and the blueberry bushes that thrive on the Nickel city’s black rock. With an approach that alternates between fiction and reality, the fantastic and the banal, tradition and the present, this project will incorporate vernacular decorative techniques through multisensory installations and performance art interventions. As a ravaudeux d’histoires (story mender), Boudrias-Plouffe’s objective is to inspire a momentary belief in the marvellous, in the fantastic.

The artist wishes to thank Mme Jeannine Larcher-Lalande, Patrick Breton, Alice Campbell, Annette Gauthier, Gilles Jolicœur, Fernande Teed and Monique Beaudoin at the Centre de santé communautaire du Grand-Sudbury, Paul de la Riva, and the Sud-berry Bear.
