Dominic Lafontaine

Ellipse …

In the context of an exploratory residence, Dominic Lafontaine inspects and inventories the semiotic richness of the term ‘ellipse.’

Starting with the term’s mathematical definition, the artist then ventures into its rhetorical meaning to develop the main motifs that will give form to an immersive work.

Through inventive acoustic and visual effects, the artist will allow this innovative installation to materialize while also evoking its immateriality.

With an approach that draws from visual, digital and media arts, the artist revisits many paradigms to redefine the substance and the esthetic vocabulary of contemporary Anishinaabe art.
