Opening : Saturday September 10, at 2pm
For Martine Dolbec, accumulating thousands of sticks makes it possible to create forms that impose themselves, structures evocative of the infinitely small and the infinitely large, these phenomena as distinct as they are inseparable. The project—the installation which is done over the duration of the exhibition—consists of the construction from a corner of the wall of a triangular shape which aims to be as expansionist as possible. Supported by the presence of video, in the form of a surveillance camera and monitor, this conceptual and physical construction—a structure of contemplation—symbolically underlines the action taking place and suggests the presence of a stranger who observes the smallest gestures of the artist in his meticulous process of creation. Even the creation of the ephemeral would, nowadays, be under close surveillance.
