At the Holy Cross Mission ruins in Wikwemikong
For Art in ruins, the 2012-2013 edition of the GNO’s annual Art on site event, GNO member-artists will explore the Holy Cross mission ruins in Wikwemikong, on Manitoulin Island. From August 1st to 3rd, they’ll create new artworks inspired by the site and its surroundings.
The event is organized with the collaboration of artist collective Debajehmujig Storytellers and 4elements Living Arts. Together, these organizations will welcome the GNO’s artist-members as well as invited artists from across Manitoulin Island.
Highlights of this meeting between Manitoulin artists and the GNO’s artist-members will include conversations on artistic practice, spontaneous collaboration and a multiplicity of creative outlooks on one site. The works created by the artists of Art in ruins will be showcased on the evening of Saturday August 3rd at the Holy Cross ruins.
