Les itinérances du corps

Exhibition

The exhibition, Les itinérances du corps, reflects on the space the body holds, – the space it lives in, the one in which it moves and the space within it, the one by which it lives, – through an intimate dialogue between the two.

This installation presents the artist’s research on the body and our human willingness to transcend it. We find ourselves before a series about our gestures and everyday states which pass through the body’s path evolving inside its physical and psychological prisons. For example, the installation will present a series of shirts tied with elastics and burnt at its extremities. Heavy from the memories of the people it used to cover up, these “skins” have accumulated, quietly, the little secrets and signs of the passing of time. Now imprisoned by an army of elastics, whose purpose is to conceal the memories they carry, the shirts evoke the silence of interior space. Their burnt extremities moreover prove that they have served as torches to light the way for those who can no more perceive gentleness or find their path.
