L'Échangeur 1 : Extensions intimes

1 curator, 3 francophone regions of Canada, 4 centers and 15 artists and many intimate meetings within the visual arts world

Whether you lived in the region of Sudbury, Rouyn-Noranda or Moncton, a unique experience was in store. Extensions intimes was the first project of its’ kind to bring together four Artists Run Centers: l’Écart, in Rouyn-Noranda, la Galerie Sans Nom and L’Atelier Imago in Moncton and La Galerie du Nouvel-Ontario in Sudbury. From September 2 to October 14, each center hosted artists from those three regions. For the public it was an opportunity to meet the artists, to follow them during their creating process and to see them at work. In each center, the first two weeks were scheduled for the actual creation of the art piece; while the two last weeks were reserved for the exhibition of the finish art pieces. The curator Annie Molin Vasseur was also present during the second week of creation. The public was warmly invited to take part in the process.

In Rouyn-Noranda, the featured artists were: Shahla Bahrami from Ottawa, Nathalie Lavoie from La Baie, Lise Robichaud and Mathieu Léger from Moncton, Jacques Baril from Calichan and Carole Wagner from Rouyn-Noranda.

In Moncton, the artists involved were: Matthieu Dumont and Geneviève Crépeau from Rouyn-Noranda, Yvan Dutrisac from Ottawa and Jennifer Bélanger and Michel Robichaud from Moncton.

In Sudbury, the artists at work were: Gaëtane Godbout from Rouyn-Noranda, Marie-Colette Jacques from Larder Lake and Gisèle Ouellette from Moncton.

Extensions intimes was sponsored by L’Association des groupes en art visuel francophones – L’AGAVF and financed partly by Canadian Heritage, the Canada Art Council and the Secrétariat aux affaires intergouvernementales canadiennes.
