Salifou Lindou

Salifou Lindou lives and works in Cameroon. He first showed his work publicly in the 1990s and has exhibited at the Dakar Biennale, the Joburg Artfair and at the 1-54 Contemporary African Art Fair in London. Salifou Lindou also practices performance art, and Albatros figures among his most notable performances. Presented at the Doual’Art gallery in 2013, it looks at how the State of Cameroon is governed by corrupt politics. Lindou, who explores the human condition in his art, states: “Through the texture and form of my figures, I allow strength, fragility, beauty and ugliness to emerge from their narcissistic bodies, expressing the bitterness and gentleness of their traits as well as the infinite resistance with which they confront the violence of existence.”
