Raised in Sainte-Anne-de-Bellevue, Quebec, Cara Tierney is a multi-disciplinary artist with a background in performance art. Using the body as a point of departure Tierney often foregrounds issues of sexuality and gender identity in an attempt to expose the hetero-centrist coding and binary structure of society and to question how society structures our relationship to our own bodies and ultimately our identities, both private and public.
